
Leona Louise Lewis, born 3 April 1985, is an actress an activist, singer and actress who hails from Britain. Born in the London Borough Of Islington she was educated at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis received national recognition after she was crowned the winner of the third series of The X Factor in 2006 which resulted in an PS1 million recording deal with Syco Music. Her winner's single, an original cover from Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" which peaked at the top of the charts, reached first place for the duration of four weeks on UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 50,000 digital downloads within thirty minutes. Clive Davis's label, J Records, signed Lewis to a five-album agreement in the United States. The success continued for Lewis when she released her debut album Spirit (2007). It has been certified as platinum by the UK and became the fourth most-sold album in the 2000s. The Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the best-selling 21st century album of debut by a female artist. The first single, "Bleeding Love", had a run of seven weeks at the top of the charts at one in the UK and was the highest-priced single of the year. The song was among the best-selling during 2008, and Lewis was awarded an award for her work, the Billboard Award for the Best New Artist. Echo was her second studio album. She also wrote the song "I Love You" on behalf of Avatar. Lewis also released "Collide," a joint work along with Swedish DJ Avicii. In the year 2011, she also released Hurt The Extended Play that was the first single from her album. Glassheart (2012) marked Lewis' the third album of her studio. It was Lewis the first time she tried electronic music and dubstep. She started recording tracks for her debut Christmas album while on her Glassheart Tour, which took to the stage in the mid-2013 timeframe. The Christmas album, with Love was released in late 2013. Its single lead, One More Sleep, came in at the number three spot on the charts in the UK. Lewis is a British female solo artist, made history by becoming the first female artist to reach the top of the list with eight songs. This is more than Olivia Newton John's record which contained seven songs.
